*Dumpysaurus started this neat meme where you draw a character 20 different times in different ways. Way fun, but super hard. Ya’ll should try it. I had tried to start one when she issued the challenge, but try as I might Greg would not cooperate with me. Jenny suggested Merial, and Merial was being a jerk as well and would not cooperate. I had given up on the prospect for awhile after every single main character decided it would be funny if I suddenly could not draw them anymore. Then *Sheana did a Lucy one and then *ladydragona did a Ly one, and I’ll be damned if I’ll be the only Jerk Lass to not have one, so I tried again.

And lo and behold, apparently my brain wanted to draw someone obscure for this meme. It’s Erin! Ya’ll remember him? Man I almost forgot about him. Forgot how much I loved him, that is. God, look at him. Erin Dwight ILU.

Erin is a Nokk. Nokks are male Nixies (my main character Merial is a Nixie, if you’re lost), and I totally love him to small little pieces. He’ll show up in future issues of Skin Deep, I promise guys. He’s one of my favorites. Anyway Erin is a drifter, and he’s currently in England and saving up money to make his way across Europe and eventually into Asia. It’s his life’s ambition to see as much of the world as he can. This ambition stems from the fact that as Nokks age, their grasp on reality wanes and they go feral. An Elder Nokk is extremely dangerous and will devour anything that touches the surface of whatever body of water they decide to spend the rest of their life in. This of course terrifies Erin so he spends his time Living In the Moment, doing whatever he can that will Make His Life More Exciting before he succumbs to his unfortunate fate. His red markings are a bit like an hour-glass, ticking down the time he has left. As he ages the red spreads, and he has about to when the markings on his fingers reach his shoulders before his mind completely goes. His red markings look like discolored skin when he’s human, so he can’t even pretend they’re not there. The gills on his torso also translate into darker skin discoloration, but unlike the markings he actually thinks those are pretty neat. Later in life he owns an Irish Wolfhound named Tumnus, who he dotes on like a son.

He’s dating Johnny Franklin of the Jerk Lads (the brainchild of the wonderful *ladydragona) as much as Johnny would hate to ever admit that. How that relationship works is beyond me, since Johnny’s so far in the closet he’s in Narnia and Erin couldn’t be more openly gay if he tried (and he has).

OKAY, WELL I HAVE JUST WRITTEN A BOOK ON THIS THIRD-STRING SKIN DEEP CHARACTER. WHO KNEW?

I was going to write an explanation for each drawing, but damn I’ve already spewed on long enough. If anyone wants a more detailed description just ask and I shall explain.

And yes I am aware that "Erin" is the female spelling of the name. This is deliberate.
